Can you reduce your energy bill?
The Ofgem price cap is now £1,862 a year. This changed on 1 July 2026.
The energy price cap is a limit on the amount it costs per unit of gas or electricity when you’re on your supplier’s standard variable tariff. The yearly figure is based on what an average household uses.
There are fixed deals available for less than the price cap for both new and existing customers. Find out more about how to reduce your energy bill.
